Why choose a regulated forex broker?
There could several reasons why investors might prefer to open an account with a strongly regulated broker, compared to an offshore regulated broker. Although with restricted leverage limits, it's always preferable to work with a broker supervised by a reputable financial authority. The main reasons could be resumed to four:
- Default negative balance protection for retail traders,
- Segregated client money with tier-1 international banks,
- An investor compensation fund for retail traders, to cover balances in case of broker's bankruptcy,
- Dispute resolution and client claims handled by competent bodies.
Whatever the reason, opening an account with regulated forex brokers can only be beneficial to the trader. After all, the stronger the regulations, the more client protection. The only inconvenience is, restricted leverage limits, normally up to 30:1 for forex trading.
