یک پیپ در فارکس بدین معنی می‌باشد که کوچکترین تغییری می‌باشد که یک جفت ارز می‌تواند ایجاد کند، بجز مقادیر یک پیپ یا "پیپت".
برای بیشتر جفت ارزها 1 پیپ یعنی 0.0001؛ برای جفت ارزها با ین ژاپن مانند USD/JPY یک پیپ 0.01 است. در هنگام معامله‌ی فلز، 1 پیپ برای طلا و نقره 0.01 است.
زمانی که EUR/USD از 1.0925 تا 1.0926 بالا می‌رود، پول خرد باقیمانده 1 پیپ می‌شود. با 5 رقم اعشار قیمت گذاری، اگر EUR/USD از 1.09255 تا 1.09260 بالا رود، این تغییر نصف یک پیپ می‌شود.
